Inside my room

Istanbul, Turkey

In 2010, the South African photographer John Thackray went on a round-the-world trip with his project “My Room Project”. Six years have passed and the project continues to develop.

The idea itself is quite simple. The author gets on a visit to another “victim” and sets up a camera near the ceiling. Thus, he removes the private space of a person, with its features and details. After the photo session, the photographer takes a small interview with the owner of the room. The story began with the room of a Parisian friend. Today, John has visited the whole world, and in the project you can see more than 50 countries from different parts of the world. Another specificity of My Room Project is that all the owners of the rooms were born in the 80-90s of the last century.
